How Far Do You Go to Get Water?
Michura, Kenya is a village of about 1500 people who used to walk 6 kilometers round trip each day so that they could have the water they need for drinking, cooking, cleaning and bathing. The people of Michura, with some help from the 410 Bridge (www.410bridge.org/) and the Crosspointe Church of Cary (www.crossepointe.org) community partnered over the last several years to alleviate this pressing issue. WDFK is a fun family event that reminds us of how much we can do together, how far we have come and how far we have yet to go. 100% of the proceeds of this event will go to fund additional trips and projects to deepen the partnership we have forged between our communities.
The race will start at the White Oak Trail head and participants will head to the Wimberley Road station where they will have the option of carrying water back to the finish line, just as countless Kenyans still do every day.
